Ok I love gumbo The guy who was serving us was on a role with his ability to entertain and also serve. He was smooth like butter the way he was hitting out with his recommendations. We went with the gumbo trio to try a lil of all of them. All were yum! Without a doubt you can get better elsewhere in NOLA but the location is perfect if exploring the French quarter and they have a cute little outside patio area where we sat. Also if that guy is serving you, you're gonna have a good time

I came here for dinner on a Wednesday night with a friend. We both ordered the seafood okra gumbo (okra, onion, bell peppers, celery and a tiny bit of tomato sauteed and blended with shrimp and crabs into a thick brown creole soup - served over rice). The gumbo came with a loaf of French bread and butter. The gumbo was flavorful but didn't taste or see any shrimp really. There was half a crab though. Service was excellent, super nice and fast. I would come back!

I, along with 3 coworkers were in NOLA for an oil & gas conference at the convention center. The last night we were there, we had a company dinner as some brought spouses. Someone suggested Robert's Gumbo Shop. A quick Yelp check showed good reviews so off we went. We didn't do a reservation as it was a Tuesday night. And we didn't need one, but for a Friday-Sat, you probably will want one. Got seated quickly inside and they do have some open air seating as well. Just consider the time of yr for that choice. I started with a run based drink (see pic) and can't remember the name but I think mambo was in it. Very good, not overly sweet as some rum drinks tend to be. On to the food. I got an off the menu trip of white bean n sausage soup, seafood gumbo and shrimp creole. Perfect size portions. No complaints on any of it. I used the bread to get all the good stuff. Another had the jambalaya and it was two huge plea of goodness. Another had the chicken po-boy and it was ginormous. Everyone had a great time. I wish I had taken more pics - I gotta get better at that. The NOLA ambiance was spot on. Several touristy t-shirt shops on the area to check that off your list. Most definitely will go back next trip. Worth the drive from just about anywhere.

Holy mother... I am questioning all of my life's decisions and wondering why I'm not living in NOLA. Beautifully historic building, quite ambiance, amazing southern hospitality from DC the waiter. I literally cannot wait to come back. The food. God, the food. I got seafood gumbo and the crawfish etouffee... and I want to bathe in it. Everyday. I've never had such flavorful food. I tried it with both their hot sauces and wanted to cry when the food went down. DC my waiter was so kind, that southern hospitality oozing from them. Felt very welcomed. 100/10 would come back.

Yummy chicken and andouille Gumbo and rum runners! Great service by Matt, who suggested the Gator sausage which was outstanding!

Wow, we absolutely loved this place during our trip to NOLA! We were lucky to be seated with Denise (I hope I got her name right), and she was fantastic. She guided us through the entire experience, helping us pick out the best dishes and drinks from the menu. She's an amazing server, and I'd highly recommend asking for her! We ordered the jambalaya, and it was absolutely delicious--we enjoyed every bite. The only downside was that they couldn't remove the shrimp from the dish. I have a mild allergy, so I took some Benadryl and was fine, but for anyone with a severe shrimp allergy, this might not be the place for jambalaya. That said, the dish was so good we considered coming back for more, but we like to explore new spots when we travel. The ambiance inside is rustic, with what seem to be old, fading paintings on the walls, which adds some character. The seating is a bit tight, and I imagine the noise level could get high during busy times, but we didn't have any issues even though it was about 80% full.

Recommended to me and ran into Gumbo Shop whilst exploring the French Quarter. Ashley was my server and very sweet! I had one request: I wanted to try 3 different items on the menu. So she arranged a sampler with the Seafood Okra Gumbo, Chicken Andouille Gumbo, and the Crawfish Étouffée. All three were really good! My favorite in order was the chicken gumbo, then crawfish etouffee, then seafood gumbo. The chicken had the most flavor but again, ALL were really good! Seating is cafe style, casual interior and a little tight for bigger parties. However, no complaints.
